Knowing the answers to these questions is a vital step in learning to slow down and tune in. Pleasure practices should be integrated with emotional processing, not used to bypass emotions. It’s essential to feel grief, rage, and fear, all while nurturing a sense of inner calm through mindful pleasure. The difficulty with setting boundaries is that we tend to think that creating such boundaries we are worried that it will push people away. But, the thing is, it is meant to show others how we should be treated. If it is not being respected, it may be time to reassess the relationship. The main thing to remember about boundaries is that setting them doesn’t distance others—it empowers us to define how we want to be treated.
